Cuban Art and Undergraduate Work

Headline

As an artist, I have always been drawn to portraying my culture. As a sculptor, I explore different ways to express my identities by using wood, glass, windows, photographs, and recycled hardware. My work is a manifestation of my struggle to adapt to the mainstream values and expectations of U.S. society as a second generation immigrant. Within my process, I print the photographs and scanned memorabilia that I collect from my relatives. I then transfer these images onto wood, glass, and mirror. I prefer this process because I am able to freely add and remove parts of the image. I continue to layer additional images and mementos onto the piece.
